Parents, educators, and caregivers should begin reading to their kids at the earliest opportunity. Most structured reading programs start at age 2 with letter identification. In addition to word identification, kids need to be exposed to phrases, terms, and concepts to expand their vocabulary. STEAM concepts need to be introduced to kids to expose them to the expanding world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Early efforts to engage students in the classroom have distinct, long lasting effects.
